Onion, Garlic And Ginger Juice For Hair

Estimated Read Time: 5 minutes

Summary: In this blog we learn if applying ginger juice is good for hair growth, and even explore the touted onion and garlic juice for hair too! Learn the potential benefits and how to make your own juice for your hair below...

We all love a good smoothie or juice to start our day. They fuel our bodies with nutrients, vitamins, energy, and antioxidants, and they taste great (most of the time..)

But, can juice aid your hair growth journey too?

Let’s take a look at the most popular juices that are thought to help combat hair loss and are argued to aid hair growth.

Can it be that some staples in our cupboards could be the answer to our hair growth woes?!

Onion Juice For Hair

If you have an allergy to eating onions, you should not use it on your hair.

Onion juice has long been thought of as a home remedy for hair health and growth. As well as encouraging growth, it’s thought to soothe the symptoms of dandruff and delay graying.

It’s believed that the high levels of sulfur found in onion juice can promote strong, thick hair whilst also promoting collagen production and blood circulation.

Some people swear by this homeopathic remedy for preventing their hair shedding and fall. But, don’t worry, you’re not expected to drink it if you want to try onion juice for your hair – it’s to be applied topically!

Some believe that massaging onion juice into your scalp, leaving it in over night (it’s best to probably wrap your pillow or head in a towel if you do this), and washing it out with a hypoallergenic, cruelty-free shampoo the next morning can help prevent hair fall.

Ginger Juice For Hair

Is ginger juice good for hair growth? Well, some believe drinking ginger juice on a regular basis can really help your hair’s strength and growth rate. However, applying it topically is the more popular route of reaping its benefits!

Ginger juice is thought to be a great conditioner for hair and can promote blood flow to your hair follicles, ensuring they’re delivered those all-important nutrients!

Ginger also has antiseptic properties that can soothe any irritated scalp and support in preventing dandruff.

Feeling experimental? Why not mix onion and ginger juice together to get the benefits of both! Simply rinse through your hair and massage into your scalp, leave for 15-30 minutes, and wash out thoroughly with our cutting edge, cruelty-free stem cell shampoo & conditioner duo!

Garlic Juice For Hair

Garlic is a popular, flavorsome ingredient used in nearly every recipe going so you’re bound to have it lurking in your kitchen already!

Not only does it make a wonderful recipe addition, but it’s also thought to be a good inclusion to any hair loss regime.

Garlic helps kill germs and bacteria on the scalp due to its anti-microbial properties and thus also helps prevent hair follicles from clogging with dead skin cells or product build-up.

It’s also abundant in sulfur and selenium, so garlic is believed to really help fortify the hair shaft structure too.

How do selenium and sulfur work for hair?

Well, selenium activates enzymes in the body, which regenerate antioxidants like Vitamin C. This then promotes healthy hair growth by killing off free radicals and bacteria, making it a good dandruff preventer too.

Selenium also helps utilize the proteins in our bodies to help boost hair growth and regulate our hair growing hormones. Sulfur, on the other hand, is required by the body to help proteins (like the hair protein keratin) to maintain their shape. This means sulfur can aid the overall health, strength, and elasticity of your locks!

Sulfur can also lengthen the growing phase of the hair cycle, and when this section of the cycle is longer, your hair becomes longer too!

So, want to try garlic juice for your hair? Try mincing some garlic cloves and mixing it with coconut oil (it’s important you mix garlic with a carrier oil, as using it purely on the skin can cause irritation)! Massage into your scalp and leave for half an hour before washing thoroughly with Cel’s gently cleansing and hypoallergenic, Microstem Shampoo & Conditioner duo.

Make Your Own Ginger Juice & Garlic Hair Mask

Hair juice not your thing? Try this DIY ginger & garlic hair mask!

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons of coconut oil
  • 3 crushed garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger juice
  • 6 teaspoons of coconut milk

Method

Mix all the ingredients together well and apply the mixture to your scalp.

Massage the homemade hair mask into the head in gentle, circular motions which will soothe, yet stimulate the scalp.

Leave on for half an hour before washing out with your favorite sulfate and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner duo.

Our final thoughts on garlic, onion, and ginger juice for hair…

Let’s face it, none of these hair juice methods are going to smell particularly pleasant. Garlic, onion, and ginger are all notoriously pungent!

But, if you’re experimental with your hair and beauty methods, and want to try to aid your hair woes and any hair loss issues with the most natural ingredients possible, hair juicing may be an avenue to explore next!
