8 Time-Saving Beauty Tips For Busy Parents

Whether you’re a parent yourself, or you have friends that are, you’ll know that looking after kids is a full-time job, that leaves little time or space for self-care. But, when you do find the time, it feels great, right?

Well, there are ways of looking after yourself even when you're short of time or have little ones to put first, which means you can feel and look your best without neglecting the time you spend with your family.

You need to find a balance that works for you and prioritize the most important things, of course. But if anyone deserves to feel good, it’s you! So, read below for some beauty hacks to use, and pass on to your fellow parents.

1. Nighttime Bathing

More often than not, you’re staying awake longer than your children, but there are mornings where they’re waking you up. You can utilize that time by having your bath or shower after they’ve gone to bed, without any distractions, and without being rushed. This gives you time to pamper yourself a bit more and saves you time in the morning. Get back to enjoying showers!

2. Easy Haircare

Despite the need to tie up your hair or push it back throughout the day (to avoid getting food or other questionable goo in it), you shouldn’t neglect your hair. And the easiest way to do this is by simply investing in good quality products.

Here at Cel, we believe everyone should feel their absolute best, by using products that optimize ingredients and effectively work to make your hair and skin feel great. Our Stem Cell Shampoo & Conditioner is proven to boost hair health and growth, giving you stronger, longer locks that are less prone to damage.

When you don’t have time to use things such as hairspray or mousse to give you more volume, use products to enhance your natural hair.

3. Make It Work Overnight

If you do decide to bathe in the evening and wash your hair, but you worry about the dreaded frizz, there are a few things you can do.

Try braiding or plaiting your hair – it keeps your hair together and also gives you a natural wave when you take it out in the morning. No need for curlers! Or, tie it up in a neat but loose bun, which will help it look less messy-chic in the morning.

To keep your hair smooth and free of frizz, you can nourish it with a hair mask. They help to hydrate your hair and should leave it feeling soft and smooth. Cel has developed a Microstem Hair Thickening Mask, that promises to strengthen hair, prevent breakages, and protect against damage. Apply it to your hair after a wash, from root to tip, and you can leave it in for just a few minutes, or overnight for a deep condition.

4. Use 2-in-1 Products

Our skin’s biggest enemy is the sun. The sun is responsible for 90% of skin’s aging, so it’s vital that we remember to use SPF every day – even the cloudy ones. UV rays can penetrate our skin in any weather, which contributes to the appearance of wrinkles, particularly on our face and neck.

The quickest way to ensure you’re using SPF is by finding a moisturizer that already has SPF in it, so you keep your skin smooth and safe from the dangers of the sun at the same time.

5. Ditch Nail Polish

As fun as it is to change the color of your nails every now and then, the stress of the polish chipping isn’t worth your energy. And the last thing you want is to have half-painted nails.

Nail polish removers often use an aggressive solvent called acetone, which is really effective at removing the color, but also dries out the skin and nails. Acetone strips the natural oils away, so overusing it can be really damaging to your fingers!

Instead of choosing bright or dramatic colors, keep your nails and cuticles clean and healthy when you can. Avoiding the color will help your nails stay strong and less prone to breaking. When you’re on the go all day, a broken nail is far from ideal.

6. Enhance Natural Beauty

You may love make-up, or you may not. But everyone wants to enhance their natural beauty where they can. As a busy parent, there’s often not enough time in the morning to apply a nice face of make-up, which gives you a half-dressed visage.

So perhaps it’s time to enrich your natural look! Invest in some 100% castor oil, as this has been touted to help your eyebrows and eyelashes to grow. Use a clean mascara brush to apply after your shower, or just before you go to bed, and it works to stimulate the follicles overnight. Using this could save you from an accidental eye poke while rushing to do your mascara in the mornings.

7. But, If You Do Like Make-Up…

Sometimes make-up gives you that extra bit of confidence. So, on the days that you feel like you need to put some on, make your life easier by investing in some compact make-up kits. You can buy small bottles of perfume and compact blusher kits, that are easy to pack into your purse. This will give you the freedom to put on make-up when and where you want, without the morning rush and the accidental smudge of eyeliner.

8. Lay Out Your Outfit The Night Before

Choosing what to wear can be difficult when you’re in a hurry, so make your life easier by deciding what to wear the night before. Check what the weather will be like, and choose something that will make you feel good! It could also help prevent you from the embarrassment of someone noticing odd socks on your feet!

Final Thoughts

Everyone should be allowed to feel good every day, and that is no less true for parents that are kept busy all day. Once your little tike has gone to bed, you should allow some time for yourself, which will make you feel more relaxed and more confident throughout your day to day life. Prioritizing your time can be difficult, but follow these steps, and you’ll find you have more time on your hands to focus on the important things.
